Johannesburg Botanic Gardens, Emmarentia Dam, Johannesburg
The land on which the Botanic Garden is situated used to be part of the farm Braamfontein which dates back to 1853.

  In 1886, a farmer Lourens Geldenhuis, purchased a portion of farm Braamfontein and named it after Emmarentia, whom he married in 1887.
It is open 06h00-18h00 daily.
Popular spot for residents and part of the Braamfontein Spruit;
good for walks and picnics, jog in the park or a canoeing and windsurfing of the lake.

  10-15 minutes from the city. If you derive pleasure from the British-style herb and rose gardens, immaculate lawns and the pleasing sound of fountains, you’ll enjoy this one.
